Jess by ProteinSimple, a Bio-Techne company, is an automated capillary-based Western blot instrument capable of analyzing 24 samples in approximately 3 hours. Automation of the protein separation and immunodetection process eliminates error-prone steps, and the associated software processes the quantifiable data.
With the CyBio FeliX Liquid Handling System from Analytik Jena, the Jess preparation process can be automated, with the results being more reproducible compared to manual preparation. The automation is designed for a kit with 24 samples and requires a very small amount of dead volume.

How to prepare the Jess plate with CyBio FeliX

Load the deck with the CyBio FeliX accessories as shown in the deck layout in the CyBio FeliX Application Studio, and place the reagents and your samples in the coolable adapters.

Start the Jess Application in the Application Studio and watch how CyBio FeliX handles your workflow.
CyBio FeliX prepares the Master Mix, performs normalization, and transfers 24 samples in 17 min before a message box in the Application Studio prompts you to perform the denaturation step externally.

With CyBio FeliX you do not lose any time! While samples are denaturing, CyBio FeliX prepares the Jess plate with antibodies, buffer, enzyme, substrate, wash buffer and ladder in 22 minutes. Once the message box informs you that the preparation is complete, simply place the denatured samples back in the position indicated in the Application Studio.

Now CyBio FeliX transfers the 24 samples in 3 minutes before you can remove the plate, seal it, centrifuge it and place it in the Jess reader according to the kit manufacturer's instructions.
